1. Balmoral Oval, Balmoral

With stunning water views, the oval at Balmoral is a lovely spot for bike riding. There is a bicycle/walking track as well as play equipment, seating, two playing fields, nearby car park (fees apply), kiosk, bushland reserve, and fitness circuit. Make a day of it, and grab some take-away fish & chips for lunch!

2. Clifton Gardens Reserve, Mosman

Kids can scooter and ride around with great beachfront views. There is a shaded playground right next to the beach along with picnic shelters and BBQs to make a day of it.
3. North Brightmore Reserve, Cremorne

Brightmore Reserve is a great spot for children to learn how to get about on wheels. The trike path also teaches kids basic road safety sills, with roundabouts, pedestrian crossings and road signs. The reserve is flat, and there is lots of open green space with picnic tables. It’s opposite Primrose Park, on the foreshores of Willoughby Bay.
‘The one at the end of Young Street Neutral Bay, Brightmore Reserve has a lovely bike/scooter track with crossings etc it’s very sweet! It’s a lovely little spot It has a car park and a lovely big grass area also! My little one is only 9 months but I use to live near it before moving to Mosman and I will be sure to visit it when she is older!‘ – Alissa.

The bike/scooter path at Tunks stretches back from the harbour for about a kilometre and leads you past little caves, climbing rocks and small (toddler friendly) bush walks. The playground has some great features too with plenty for toddlers and older kids. There are toilets mid-way along the path.

Naremburn Park is a great spot for a bike, scooter or trike. There is a loop path around the playground, which features a sand pit and water play pump. It’s a great spot for a picnic, with BBQ, park benches and toilets too.

This is a fully fenced park, which is located next to a sports oval. Kids can enjoy the slide, swings & other equipment.
7. Blackman Park, Lane Cove West

A lovely bike track suitable for little kids starts at the younger play equipment and leads off on a circuit through the bush that will appeal to more confident 5–10 year old bike riders.

The playground at Bales Park features a bike track, train, sandpit, dual slide, swings, climbing frame and spinner. It’s a great spot for little children to learn to ride.

At Willoughby Park, there is a wide, smooth shared use path for walking, jogging, cycling and skating around the main oval, and there are also lots of pathways around the playground too.

Hallstrom Park features a continuous accessible path (flat to gently undulating) that links the playground elements. The playground features a mound slide (no steps), sandpit and water pump.
‘Hallstrom Park is perfect for a 3 year old! It has a scooter/bike path with mini road signs, a playground and oval. It’s in Small Street‘ – Dimity.
‘It has a playground and little bike track with road signs and markings. The Incinerator Cafe is next door, as well plus a big long track that goes from Willoughby to Cammeray – good for the big kids.’ – Anneke.
11. Artarmon Reserve

From the gates of the lower playground, head left onto the bike/pedestrian path, otherwise known as Cordia Way (or the Artarmon Link Path) which runs from Artarmon Reserve to Shepherd Road. It’s a great long ride for an adventure! Find out more about Artarmon Reserve.

This is a great family facility with four tennis courts, soccer field, half-court basketball, BBQ, dog off-leash park and playground with cycle path.
13. Greengate Park, Killara

The park at Bruce Avenue in Killara (right near the train line), features a great open green area with a path around the perimeter. It’s brand new, and the playground is fantastic too. Just make sure you go to the loo before you leave home, as there are no toilets!
14. Koola Park, East Killara

Koala Oval reopened in late 2016 after extensive upgrade – new fetching, circuit training, lighting and a path the whole way around the oval.
15. Darnley Oval, Gordon

Kids can enjoy a synthetic wicket, soccer fields and playground with junior cycle track and flying fox, all in a beautiful, secluded bushland setting.

You can enjoy a full day out at St Ives Showground. Kids can bike or scooter along the path that winds around, stopping at the playground for a break. There are also plenty of picnic spots to enjoy a bite to eat, and a new cafe too.

There’s a huge grassed area in the middle of the playground, which is the perfect spot to set up a picnic (exactly what we did). 18. Balmaringa Reserve, South Turramurra

Located behind the shops at South Turramurra, Balmaringa Reserve is a lovely playground with a concrete bike path around the perimeter. The newly expanded Cameron Park features open grassy areas, plentiful shade from trees, a multipurpose paved area with outdoor table tennis table and picnic facilities, a self-cleaning, accessible public toilet, as well as brand new seating, fencing, pathways and lighting. There is a great track than runs around the play equipment where kids can ride and scooter along.

Bicentennial Park is home to Ku-ring-gai Fitness and Aquatic Centre and West Pymble Bowling and Sports Club. It’s also the perfect spot for a family picnic with BBQ facilities, walking/cycling tracks and fenced playground.
21. Golden Jubilee Field, North Wahroonga

Go bike riding at Golden Jubilee, Wahroonga!
Golden Jubilee Field sits on a ridge overlooking Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. The bike park consists of three areas – there is an 800 metre single track that goes up and down the hill, a skill development area where riders can improve their off-road skills on rocks and wooden surfaces, and pump tracks with various degrees of challenge! 22. Storey Park, Asquith

There’s a circular path that goes around the new playground at Storey Park. It’s perfect for a little scoot or ride for little ones! Storey Park opened in January 2020 after months of development, and the park features a brand new community centre, a fabulous fully-fenced playground for kids of all ages, plenty of shade and seating, BBQ and picnic area, toilets, baby change room, drinking water and easy parking. 23. Mills Park, Asquith

Mills Park in Asquith has an oval with a track around it, perfect for riding bikes or running. The park also has a nice playground, tennis courts and plenty of grass to run around.
24. Wahroonga Park, Wahroonga

The playground has something for everyone, making Wahroonga Park one of the best spots on the upper north shore. There’s a large area of grass for picnics, beautifully manicured gardens, nearby toilets and a café across the road. There’s a great bike track around the park that is perfect for all wheels. 25. Fagan Park, Galston

Fagan Park also has bike tracks for adults and children to ride their bikes, skateboards or just go for a walk or jog. Grassy areas are also plentiful for picnics or a friendly game of footy or soccer. The park is a great spot to walk your dog but they must remain on the lead at all times, and it’s a good idea to bring a water bowl for them, or they can just drink from the drops of the tap. There is a 717 metre long concrete bike path that circles the oval at Rofe Park. There are also playgrounds, a tennis court and an off-leash dog area.
27. Ruddock Park, Westleigh

Ruddock Park is a great spot to learn to ride a bike. It not only has a kiddy bike path, but a huge pirate-ship themed playground, tennis courts, big grassed area, oval, BBQs, tables and a fenced dog park. Read our review of Ruddock Park here.

More balance on stones, with lots of grass space behind
One of the biggest attractions of this park is all the natural space available. There’s also so much space around the park. You can grab the table that’s undercover, or bring a picnic rug and spread out on the open grass. There’s a bike path that wraps around, with plenty of open space for playing. If you want a path that is long, flat and has amazing views, then Manly Beach is where you want to head! You can go all the way from Shelly Beach to Queenscliff (if you have the energy), and just soak up that beautiful coastal vibe.
‘There’s nothing quite like being near the ocean, and riding along the beachfront at Manly is such a lovely thing to do. It gets very busy at the weekend, so I prefer to go during the week when it’s much quieter. Magic!‘ – Karen.

The bike circuit at Passmore Reserve is perfect for teaching young children to ride. It loops around the playing fields, past the playground and joins up with the bike track at Nolan Reserve.

Winnererremy Bay features the well-known Flying Fox Playground, which is quite possibly the biggest and best playground on the Northern Beaches. There is a large open green space overlooking Pittwater, and a great cycleway around the edge. There’s a fabulous kid-friendly nearby cafe, you can take a splash in the harbour, or go for a little walk around the bushland. It’s a stunning spot!
